The Cost-Effective Alternative To Plywood

The Cost-Effective Alternative To Plywood

Bulky, Costly Plywood

You have scissor-lifts, fork trucks or other heavy machinery in operation on your construction site and the standard protection board is not strong enough, crushes easily and you’re having to pay for replacement protection. You consider using plywood but there are some significant problems with plywood:

Plywood may be the traditional material to consider for protecting newly laid floors, or even doors and windows, but it's also bulky, expensive and difficult to transport.
Whilst plywood is strong, it needs to be fire retardant according to safety standards and it can even discolour the surface it is placed on. When the boards get wet they quickly become slippery and warp, and can pose a health and safety risk on site.
In addition, the dust when cutting plywood makes protecting your newly laid floor even more difficult! That's why the construction industry is looking for safer, lightweight and more cost effective solutions, such as Proguard Bufferboard.

The lightweight alternative - Proguard Bufferboard Protection

Manufactured from a heavy-duty, honeycombed formation polypropylene, Proguard Bufferboard provides high impact protection for floors, doors and other surfaces, whilst being incredibly lightweight and flexible - in fact, Bufferboard is over 70% lighter than plywood.

Unlike Plywood, Bufferboard is 100% waterproof, so not affected by moisture, oil or chemicals. That means it doesn't warp when it's wet either and its cellular form provides a high level of slip resistance.

Also suitable for use with wheeled scaffold towers and powered plant machines.
It's even been tested under a scissor lift – if you don't believe us, see for yourself:

Individual design and environmentally friendly

In addition to Proguard Bufferboard being cheaper per square metre than plywood, it is also more economical. Bufferboard can be recycled and with its lightweight properties, it's much easier to deliver to site reducing the number of loads of protection material and therefore reducing carbon footprint.

Reusable and 100% recyclable, there are also many alternative uses for Bufferboard beyond floor protection, non-traditional uses include pallet racking protection, temporary site hoarding and boarding for windows.
